Where to go in Marbella at Xmas and new year 2020 with Corona restrictions?
Xmas and new year in Marbella 2020 will be very different this year. Corona has the absolut power over the festive season 2020. The new regulations in Andalusia says that restaurants can be open till 0130 am at 24th and 31st of December 2020 and group of no more than 10 people can be together at one table. Masks have to be on all time except when eating or drinking. dancing or sitting at the bar are prohibit. That means that celebrating xmas or new year 2020 will be not as usual this year. many people will prefer to celebrate with family or friends at home rather than going out to a crowded location to protect themself from the covid-19 virus. on the other hand, a lot of restaurants at the Costa del Sol will stay closed or even will never open again due to the Corona situation all the year along. Lets hope that 2021 will be a better year and life will come back as usual and as it was before Corona.

Costa del Sol enters phase 1 after 9 weeks of isolation Finally, and with a week’s delay, restaurants with terraces are allowed to reopen in Marbella and Puerto Banus. Phase 1 after nine weeks of corona virus COVID-19 lockdown was rung in and finally, the residents are allowed to meet again in small groups of up to 10 people. All restaurants that have a terrace are allowed to reopen with 50% capacity. Also, golf is allowed again. At a local inspection, today on the first day in phase 1 after Corona lockdown in Puerto Banus some shops had already opened. But all restaurants and bars were still closed. Costa del Sol gets ready to open for summer season 2020!
The Spanish government has shared its plans to open up the country in 4 steps beginning from 2nd of May 2020 The Spanish government announced this Thursday evening that there will be partial relaxation. On the Costa del Sol you may already from Saturday the second may go for a walk and do sports alone or with persons living in the same house between 6 and 10 a.m. and also between 20 and 23 o’clock. But only within a distance of one kilometre from home. This regulation is valid until 11 May, after that, phase 1 will be introduced and the rules will be announced later. It is hoped that by the beginning of the summer season in July, all restrictions will be lifted to encourage tourism. Already two weeks ago many beach clubs in and around Marbella would have wanted to open the 2020 season, but due to the Corona crisis this was not possible. Corona virus situation in Marbella
The current situation of the Corona Virus in Marbella; Unfortunately, the situation on the Costa del Sol has deteriorated in recent days. With around 400 cases in Andalusia alone, the situation has become very critical. All tourists to the Costa del Sol are advised to return to their home country. Many flights from Spain to other countries are prohibited. The famous marina Puerto Banus is closed for the next 2 weeks. From tomorrow Monday, the 16th of March, the same applies to the area around Marbella as to the rest of Spain. Curfew for everyone except for urgent errands such as grocery shopping or visiting a pharmacy. Sunbathing on the beach is also prohibited. Golf courses have closed and the restaurants are only allowed to deliver food. It is strongly advised not to travel to Marbella. This provision is valid for 15 days. Then you will see how to proceed. It is a nasty surprise for the local owners and event organizers now that the season should open soon everything has to remain closed.
